Let’s get gorgeous: your Profhilo Information 

Profhilo acts by stimulating fibroblast activity where collagen and elastin is produced, making skin behave younger. Its two weights of hyaluronic acid molecules work beneath the skin, rehydrating from the inside out. Benefits include skin that appears smoother and less crepey, with softer, more even skin tone. At Ivy Clinic, we use Profhilo not just for the face, but for treating the hands and neck too.

At your consultation

Your Nurse will take your medical history and discuss your treatment in full. Take time afterwards to consider this before you book your treatment. If you’re happy, we can book it during your consult.

Before your Profhilo treatment

• The week before, avoid aspirin, NSAIDS, anticoagulant drugs, ginkgo biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamins A&E, and other essential fatty acids 
• On the day of treatment, leave your face completely bare: no makeup, skincare or self-tan
• Don’t wax, bleach, use depilatory creams or have electrolysis for 4 weeks beforehand in the areas to be treated 
• Avoid chemical peels, ‘active’ facials, laser and microdermabrasion for 2 weeks

Both before and after, please protect your incredible skin with broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen at least 30 SPF. 

 

Saving face: your Profhilo Aftercare

Straight after treatment, you may notice some small, red raised bumps in the treated area. This is normal, and temporary, and will disappear completely within 12-24 hours maximum. You can apply arnica to any bruises, and take antihistamines to reduce swelling, if needed. 

 

To look after yourself after your treatment, we recommend you avoid:

• Touching or applying makeup to the treated areas for the first few hours post-treatment
• Physical strain, head first movements and vigorous exercise the day of and the day after treatment 
• Saunas, steam baths, icy temperatures or UV radiation for 2 weeks after treatment 
• Dental procedures, dermal fillers, microdermabrasion, chemical peel or IPL 2 weeks after treatment 
• Fractional resurfacing for at least 4 weeks 

Remember: You may not notice Profhilo’s effects for a few weeks. But rest assured, it’s working ‘behind the scenes’ to stimulate your body’s own natural collagen production. 

To maintain the results of this procedure, we recommend repeating this treatment cycle every 6-8 months.
