Botox® / Dysport®

Increasingly becoming less of a taboo topic, Botulinum Toxin Type A is now the most common world-wide non-surgical anti-ageing treatment. Cosmetic Botox® therapy is an art, to achieve the best and most natural looking results it must be placed directly into the muscle causing the concern, in the correct position, at an ideal dose, and by an experienced injector.

Botox® is used to relax the muscles in the face that create fine lines and wrinkles resulting in a temporary softening of these lines and a refreshed and more youthful appearance.

The most common areas treated are frown lines, forehead lines and ‘crows feet’ around the eyes.

Administering Botox® is a simple 15 minute procedure involving a few tiny injections directly into the muscles we want treated. Downtime is minimal and you can return to the outside world without anyone being the wiser.

What is Botox® and how does it work?

Botox® is a purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles by blocking nerve signals that make your muscles contract resulting in softer lines and a more refreshed appearance.

What areas can be treated?

The most common areas treated are the frown lines, forehead lines and ‘crows feet’ around the eyes. If you have other areas of fine lines and wrinkles and unsure what the best approach is, book a complimentary consult to discuss the most suitable treatment for these areas.

Is treatment painful?

You may experience minor discomfort to none at all from the very small needle used.

When do I see results?

You will begin to see results from three to ten days post treatment with maximum results seen between seven and fourteen days.

How long does it last for?

This can depend on the individual but generally the normal action of the treated facial muscles will return within three to four months. Due to our bodies amazing ability to regenerate neuromuscular connections the normal muscle activity will return over time. You may notice that with subsequent treatments your results might last longer.

Who is best suited to this treatment?

Both women and men who have concerns about the appearance of ageing including fine lines, wrinkles, appearing tired and stressed. Also people after a more youthful, fresh appearance.

Is Botox® treatment suited to men and women?

Yes, Botox® is extremely effective in both men and women, however men often need slightly higher doses due to the strength of their facial muscles. This can be discussed in the consultation process.

How long does a treatment take?

The actual Botox® treatment should not take more than 10 to 15 minutes. However, allow time for the consultation process as this is very important to ensure you are completely informed and have discussed a treatment tailored specifically to your concerns.

How much does treatment cost?

This is dependent on the area that is being treated and how many units are required for that area. During the consult your clinician will assess and advise you on the cost of treatment prior to proceeding. You will be reviewed two weeks post treatment free of charge and occasionally you may need further top up that will be charged to you at a nominal fee.

Is Botox® safe?

Botox® has a 20 plus year history of being used in the cosmetic arena and is one of the safest treatments in the cosmetic industry today. Botox® has also been used medically for many years treating people with conditions such as cerebral palsy and overactive bladders.
